5FM Cape Town Takeover Weekend

Just over a year has passed since I got involved with the Tusk Branding Team and the 5FM Cape Town Take Over Weekend!

We all seriously looked forward to it this year. The “Mother” of Take Over Weekends for 5FM!

A 7-man strong team this year (The Magnificent 7) and a very well planned itinerary stood us in good stead for the weekend.

Thursday evening started with the craziness of none other than that of Mr Roger Goode at African Pride Crystal Towers Hotel and Spa.

I could however not leave without a quick group hug with the team and Mr Goode and off I went to go check up on our team in Cape Town setting up at UCT for the Prologue party!

Rob Vember and Poppy were on TOP form, but the UCT Tennis Club turned into absolute mayhem. Have a look at You Tube for Roger’s start of his set and introduction to the Harlem Shuffle

The next morning (Friday) was another early riser for the African Pride Crystal Towers Hotel and Spa.

This time around with Gareth Cliff and crew! They were hilarious and again a little team snap with controversial Afrikaans rapper, Jack Parow.

Later that evening our team regrouped and ventured towards Shimmy’s Beach Bar. We painted this

venue RED with 5FM branding and glo-sticks. This venue is definitely Parasol and Lantern friendly.

A Beach venue of note!

Tusk Branding and Logistics Team playing the fool for a bit!

Saturday was the Young Blood 5 Charity day. We did a bike collection at the Pick n Pay Children’s Race Day in Kenilworth

and Young Blood 5 charity initiative in Khayelitsha and a pre-primary children’s school.

We delivered 3 bicycles to the school.

Day 4 was Race Day and teams were onsite from as early as 4am in the morning. Not even the cock could crow us awake.

Destinations were Dixies in Hout Bay

and Lavie Restaurant and Coffee Bar in Green Point

The best weather I have ever seen in Cape Town and amazing support for all the cyclists! It was a

FUN day for all and another VERY successful activation for the Tusk Branding and Logistics team.
